HOW LONG HAS COMPLETE NOTARY SERVICE BEEN IN BUSINESS? WHAT MAKES COMPLETE NOTARY SERVICE UNIQUE? There are many things that make our service special, first are the hours. Early on I realized that many services were open the typical daytime hours but for people like me who work a day job, evenings posed the biggest opportunity. I wanted to offer services at a time that gave people a chance to get home from work, have dinner with their family and not have to worry about finding a notary service that is open. We operate Monday thru Friday evenings from 7pm until 10pm. Our motto is “Hours that work for working people.” We do house calls. We travel to nursing homes, hospitals and private residence for those customers who are unable to come to us. This would include the elderly, persons with illnesses or disabilities, and those that are incarcerated. INCARCERATED? Yes, if you have a loved one that has been incarcerated in the Westmoreland County Prison, I have been granted access and can visit inmates to perform notary services. WHAT SERVICES COULD AN INCARCERATED PERSON NEED? Most people incarcerated at the county level have never been to prison before. It doesn’t take long to realize that they need someone on the outside to handle their financial affairs, pay their bills, deposit money etc. In order to do these tasks the person on the outside usually needs a Power Of Attorney. Such a document needs to be signed and notarized and we provide that service. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE OTHER SERVICES YOU OFFER? We are a full service title and tag agency, contracted to the Department of Transportation and authorized to handle all facets of motor vehicle titling and registration. This includes change of ownership, transfer of plates, issuance of new plates, and renewals. IS A CUSTOMER ABLE TO SECURE HIS NEW REGISTRATION IN YOUR OFFICE? Yes. Recently PennDot has granted authority to agents such as me to take part in new online services. We are now able to provide a customer with an on the spot registration renewal including the registration card and renewal sticker. The cost is minimal in addition to the required PennDot fees. SO YOU STOCK PLATES FOR DIFFERENT KINDS OF VEHICLES? Yes, we stock plates for auto, truck, motorcycle, trailer, motor homes, and cardboard transit tags that are used for out of state buyers who come to Pennsylvania and buy a vehicle and need to drive it home. DO YOU MEAN LIKE AN EBAY PURCHASE? Yes. We answer many questions about vehicle sales that occur on Ebay. If a customer wins a bid on Ebay to purchase a vehicle from another state, we will provide them the information they need for a smooth transaction when they pick up the vehicle. We’ll also help them to title and register their new purchase when they return to Pennsylvania. BESIDES MOTOR VEHICLES, WHAT OTHER TRANSACTIONS CAN YOU DO? We are an authorized agent for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and therefore are able to process title and registrations on ATV’s and Snowmobiles. Both these types of vehicles are required to be titled and licensed in Pennsylvania. We are also an authorized agent for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and can title and register boats and other vessels. DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR AREA OF EXPERTISE? While we are well versed in many areas of automobile title work, some of the most challenging has to do with reconstructed vehicle titling. WHAT ARE RECONSTRUCTED VEHICLES? These are vehicles that have been totaled by an insurance company and thereby rendered inoperable. Vehicles such as this are often purchased and “resurrected” so that they may once again be driven on the highway. The process for re-titling and registering these vehicles can be very challenging. Yes. Effective January 1, 2007, when you reconstruct a vehicle you will be required to transport the vehicle to an “Enhanced State Inspection Station.” This is a station that has opted to contract with PennDot for the purpose of inspecting potential reconstructed vehicles. We have a list of those authorized stations. Additionally, once these vehicles are confirmed roadworthy, they will be able to be placed in service and registered right away instead of waiting weeks for PennDot to do a review. Some of these Enhanced Inspection Stations will be able to provide registration on the spot while others will only conduct the inspections. In that case, an applicant can return to an online service like ours and secure his registration on the spot. As with any new program or change, there are bugs to work out and I’m sure this one is no different. We are proactive in the area of reconstructed titling and will always guide our customers thru the process. Death procedures can also be tricky. When a loved one has departed it is up to the surviving spouse or adult heir to have the deceased owner’s name removed from any automobile titles they may have owned. We are very familiar with these procedures and can help a surviving spouse with these confusing tasks. Other difficult processes are repossessions. We assist many local banks and credit unions with this process enabling them to sell the repossessed vehicle quicker and recoup some of their lost money faster. In addition to these services we also handle Antique and Classic applications and will even take the photos at our office for the customer at no extra charge. WHAT ABOUT SENIORS? IS THERE ANY BREAK ON COST OF REGISTRATION FOR THEM? Actually there is. If a person is retired, owns or co-owns a vehicle, is collecting social security or a pension or other income that doesn’t exceed 19,900 annually, they may be eligible for a reduction of registration for their automobile or light truck. For example their car registration would be 10.00 instead of 36.00. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO PEOPLE WHO WILL NEED THE SERVICES OF A NOTARY IN THE NEAR FUTURE? Yes. If you are visiting a notary service for any reason, be sure and bring your valid drivers license or state photo ID. It is imperative that you have identification when requiring your signature notarized. If your transaction is motor vehicle related, call ahead so we can discuss your needs and costs and advise you on what you will need so you’ll only have to make one trip.
